Columbia, SC, February 23, 2017

The maintenance free lifestyle is an ideal new home choice at The Villas at Woodcreek Farms.  Home-buyers will receive valuable energy efficient savings, space-enhancing covered patios, game rooms, bonus rooms and kitchens that offer exceptional possibilities for changing families.

The Second Phase grand opening of The Villas, Executive Construction Homes' most innovative neighborhood to date in master-planned Woodcreek Farms, is slated to open March 23th, according to luxury home builder, Executive Construction Homes. Located in the newest phase and on the 10th green, The Villas is designed for gracious indoor/outdoor living with a choice of four expansive one- and two-story floor plans. All plans feature the master bedrooms on the main level, luxury features and a maintenance free lifestyle.

“This maintenance free community was carefully chosen to provide our homeowners with beautiful surroundings and convenience to everything you desire; shopping, culture, recreation, educational opportunities, and top rated medical facilities.” Says Owner/Builder, Eddie Yandle. “You (the home buyer), have earned the right to live in a luxury community with luxury features, and leave the maintenance worries to somebody else”.   Applying innovative building knowledge, Eddie Yandle began building The Villas at Woodcreek Farms after analyzing the demand for new homes with more livable space on the main level and the multi-generational household trend sweeping the nation. The Villas floor plans offer luxury included features without sacrificing space as well as Green and Universal Building techniques to appeal to a variety of home-owners that also may have specific needs. Each home has larger hallways, door openings, the option for private secondary suites and hardwired for Z-wave home integration. “As the needs for the homeowner change, the home is also able to adapt” says Eddie Yandle.

Additionally, each of the four floor plans offer the ability for a secondary suite upstairs for guests that can include a wet bar, private bathroom, and an enormous amount of storage options.   Each home has been designed to offer home buyers a large selection of customized features. While some new home buyers are looking for storage features, others may like the tiled pet washing station or a large walk in shower. All homes in The Villas include a large list of luxury features, including tile, hardwoods, and gourmet kitchens with Bosch appliances.

Built with the Advantech and Zip building system from Huber Woods, the homes are extremely energy efficient. A tankless water heater is included as well as a HERS (Home Energy Rating System) score to ensure each home-buyer achieves the greatest available efficiency on their monthly utility expenses. “Current homeowners are ecstatic at the first month after closing, as most find their utility bills have been drastically reduced in comparison to their previous older home.” Says Nicole Davis, New Home Counselor at Coldwell Banker Residential. “We find many folks had thought of remodeling to modernize their current home, but after seeing the value of the community, included features and energy savings, it is no longer a relevant option”

Starting in the low $300’000’s The Villas at Woodcreek Farms is located in a private and gated community near The Members Club at Woodcreek Farms. Home sizes range from 2000 square feet to 3300 square feet.

For more information on the community visit the community page at www.TheVillasatWoodcreekFarms.com or call 803-748-1234.

RESNET’s HERS Index has been getting a whole lot of press recently. It’s steadily gaining traction with builders and home sellers, who are  marketing their homes via HERS Index Scores . Homebuyers are now comparing houses based on their scores before they decide to buy.

After all, a lower  HERS Index Score  means a more energy efficient home, which translates into lower energy costs for both homeowners and potential homebuyers.

  • A standard American resale home is rated at 130 on the HERS Index.
  • A standard American new home is rated at 100 on the HERS Index.
  • A home with a HERS Index Score of 50 is 50% more energy efficient than a standard American new home.
  • A home with a HERS Index Score of 150 is 50% less efficient than a standard American new home.

If you’re a homeowner looking to sell your home, you have to get an energy rating.

What’s an Energy Rating and Where Can I Get One?

A home energy rating is a comparative analysis of how energy efficient your home is when compared to similar homes. In other words, a  certified RESNET Home Energy Rater  will conduct a series of tests on your home to ascertain how efficiently it’s performing. Based on the performance results, the rater will issue the home a HERS Index Score (which shows how well your home rates in terms of energy efficiency) and provide you with a detailed report highlighting the energy problems in the home.

What’s Tested during an Energy Rating?

A certified RESNET Home Energy Rater will conduct testing (i.e., an air leakage test, duct leakage test and combustion safety testing) in such areas as:

  • All exterior walls (both above and below grade)
  • Floors over unconditioned spaces (e.g., garages or cellars)
  • Ceilings and roofs
  • Attics, foundations and crawlspaces
  • Windows and doors, vents and ductwork
  • HVAC systems, water heating system, and thermostats

Why Get an Energy Rating?

As a homeowner, an energy rating provides you with a good idea about issues like:

  • How much your home is really costing you
  • How you can cut your energy costs
  • Discover cost-effective ways to increase your home’s comfort level
  • Help add to your home’s resale value

If you’re in the market to buy a home, well, there’s  no better way to establish the real cost  of one than by its HERS Index Score.  The cost of a home is more than just the mortgage – it’s also your monthly energy bills. By reviewing homes by their HERS Index Scores, you can tell which one is more affordable, sort of like comparing the MPG (miles-per-gallon) stickers on new cars.

The housing industry is changing and the HERS Index is leading the charge. Therefore, it makes good sense to contact a certified RESNET Home Energy Rater for an energy audit; as they say, knowledge is power and knowing your HERS Index Score can lead to a whole lot of power – literally!

Home Considerations for Seniors

Regardless of the type of home design, seniors need to choose homes with suitable amenities, locations, and other considerations for their preferred lifestyle. Buying affordable new homes for seniors does not equate to an isolated, cramped abode.

Amenities

The home and community amenities are some of the most important considerations for new homes for seniors. Items to evaluate include:

  • Main level living for better accessibility
  • Spacious floor plans for family visits, hobbies, and other    activities
  • Smaller lot sizes for easier upkeep
  • Energy efficiency for lower utility bills
  • Senior-friendly features designed with aging in mind, such as  easy-to-open door handles  instead of knobs, shallower steps, and rocker light switches

In addition to interior features, however, many seniors are interested in community amenities as well. Popular options to look for include:

  • Fitness facilities, including pools, tennis courts, and whirlpools
  • Community landscaping and walking trails
  • Meeting spaces for larger gatherings
  • Elegant architecture and building design

Locations

Even the most well-designed community or home, however, can be a financial blunder if it is not in a suitable location. Many seniors lead full, active lives and a new home should have easy access to major transportation routes. Public facilities such as libraries, museums, art galleries, resorts, shopping centers, and other community features should also be nearby. Seniors with health concerns may also want to consider their new home's proximity to health care and emergency facilities.

Upkeep

The upkeep and maintenance of a home can be intense, but affordable new homes for seniors are often designed to minimize or eliminate these concerns. Many homeowners' associations, for example, include landscaping, snow removal, and other basic maintenance, therefore allowing the homeowner to enjoy their new home rather than spending all their time caring for it. Homes designed with seniors in mind are less likely to need extensive renovations to accommodate reduced mobility that may come with aging, and smaller lot sizes can be easier to care for.

A favorite hors d’oeuvres or side dish for parties, holidays, family reunions and potluck dinners, deviled eggs are the star of the show on National Deviled Egg Day which is observed each year on November 2.

Deviled eggs are such a well-loved food that for which specially designed carrying dishes and plates have been made. The deli section of the grocery store prepares packaged deviled eggs, and they can be found in some convenience stores, too.

Deviled eggs, also known as eggs mimosa, stuffed egg, salad eggs or dressed eggs, are hard boiled eggs which have been shelled, cut in half and filled with the hard-boiled egg’s yolk mixed with other ingredients such as mayonnaise and mustard. Eggs are quite versatile when it comes to making simple dishes elegant. The deviled egg is another example of taking the humble egg and being able to add one or two favorite ingredients to make a dozen eggs a beautiful centerpiece.  By using colorful relishes, spicy peppers, pimentos or savory herbs, deviled eggs take on an entirely new flavor profile, demonstrating once again just how delicious this family favorite is for special occasions.  Make them a little more creamy with sour cream or a bit more tart with added vinegar, and just about every palate can be satisfied. From the traditional paprika garnish to crunchy bacon, or a little caviar, anchovy or herring, there is some devilish experimenting that can be done.

The first known print reference referring to the term “deviled” about food, appeared in 1786. It was in the 19th century that it came to be used when referring to spicy or zesty food, including eggs prepared with mustard, pepper or other ingredients stuffed in the yolk cavity.

HOW TO OBSERVE
